Over twenty years ago, Marlene Sandberg started thinking about baby diapers. She was the mother of two boys, an associate lawyer in a law firm, and was becoming aware of environmental issues.

It was during this period that Marlene came across a newspaper article that talked about the disastrous effects that disposable baby diapers had on the Swedish environment. On average, each Swedish baby was responsible for half a ton of dirty diapers each year. This is how the diapers piled up, in part because the material used in disposable diapers was mainly made from petroleum-derived plastic.

Incertitude sur la manière de faire la différence, avec deux jeunes garçons et une carrière exigeante. “Comme beaucoup de personnes de ma génération, je devenais de plus en plus consciente de l’importance de l’environnement,” dit Marlene “mais en même temps, j’avais une vie très chargée et je ne voyais pas comment le lavage de couches pourrait s’insérer dans ce programme.”

Marlene knew there would be challenges along the way, leading to eco-friendly baby diapers. Instead of shrinking from the thought of these challenges, she attacked them by saying, “I don’t believe in compromise or half measures. If an ecological layer is to be successful, it must provide results that are at least comparable or better than those of the best so-called « traditional » layers.

After five years of hard work, research and development, Marlene founded Naty and launched on the market a disposable baby diaper, biodegradable and environmentally friendly. This was followed by the launch of a range of baby care products ranging from skin care, panties and wipes.
